Vanessa came to find me just as my mentor and I were getting ready to leave for our project.
She looked at me, her voice dripping with sarcasm: “Didn’t you two break up? Why are you still trying to seduce Ethan? I don’t get what he would be with someone as pathetic as you, making him think about you all the time.”
I calmly looked at her: “It must be hard losing to someone as ordinary as me, huh? But something gained through deceit is destined to slip away.”
Vanessa’s face turned red with anger. I didn’t plan to let her off so easily: “If you were secure in your position, you wouldn’t be here flaunting yourself to me. Besides, I’m about to go on a trip. When I return, I hope to hear that people are calling you Mrs. E, not just Vanessa.”
With that, I smiled and left.
My mentor, who had been waiting outside, shook his head: “You’re unstoppable when you’re clear–minded.”
“Of course, I’ve been reborn. How could I let the same person bring me down
twice?”
