Chapter 7

The crowd was still chattering and Rick and
Gladys was cursing at me.
I ignored everything and waited for the cops.
When they arrived, Gladys rushed over.
“Officers, she’s the killer! Arrest her now!”
“My daughter’s body is right there! This woman
locked her up and left her to burn to death!”
Gladys cried, begging them to take me away.
After getting a quick overview, one of the
officers came over to me. “Did you call this in?”

I dropped my casual act and looked him in the
eye.
“Yes. These two not only set fire to my house,
but they also tried to steal my money. Now they’re trying to blame me for their daughter’s
death!”
“I’m charging them with arson, attempted
murder, and defamation!”
“Plus extortion!”
Rick exploded.
“You! You crazy bitch! What the hell are you talking about?!”
Gladys’s eyes were red with anger.
“Don’t listen to her, officers. If Lily hadn’t been
locked up, she wouldn’t have died!”
“She’s my only daughter. I raised her all these
years. Gone, just like that…” She collapsed on
the ground, wailing.
I rolled my eyes. This act was worthy of a
daytime soap opera.
I didn’t know if the cops were buying it, but the
crowd was eating it up.
“What’s going on? I’m confused.”
“I think that woman started the fire on
purpose…”
“But she doesn’t look scared. Maybe there’s
more to this story.”
Ignoring the crowd, I walked up to Rick, my face cold.
“You must regret killing your own daughter,” I

Everyone went silent.
Rick went ballistic, his veins throbbing.
“What the F*CK are you saying? I’ll shut that
lying mouth of yours!”
I raised my voice.
“Am I lying? You tricked me into thinking my car had been vandalized. While I was downstairs, you used a key you’d made in advance to get into my house. Then you sent Lily in to start the fire. You sabotaged my lock so you could
charge a fortune to open the door!”
“Lies!” Rick screamed.
“Am I lying? We’ll see what the evidence says.” I pulled out my phone.
Rick stared at the ceiling, but couldn’t hide his

unease. If nothing else, the money was worth
the risk. “I’m listening.”

“Good,” I said smoothly, raising my phone..
“Let’s take a look at those security cameras.”
I took a charging treasure with me.
With the issue coming out, it must be properly resolved.
Even if a case is filed later, the Zhang Juan
couple won’t be able to throw dirty water on me
again as they did in the previous life.
The real online violence is useless to clarify
someone’s reputation.
The best way is to let the police testify for me together.
Now, the time has finally come.
