For so long while my mother was sick, I had asked him a few times to come and see her, but he always found various excuses to refuse.
And his attitude towards me had been getting colder and colder.
I didn’t expect that in his eyes, I was just a blood bag he could use at will.
“Just look at her mother, half–dead. I don’t know why there’s any need to continue treating her. She’s just wasting money by staying alive.”
“Do you like the new bag I bought you? I used Mia Sullivan’s card. Rather than using this money to treat her mother, that bottomless pit, it’s better to buy something for the living to enjoy.”
When we were dating, I trusted him 100%, and he knew the passwords to all my bank cards.
But I never imagined he would use my mother’s life–saving money to buy a bag for his mistress!
“Yesterday when I came to the hospital with you to see our dad, I saw her mom too. I wonder when the old woman will die.”
Hearing this, I couldn’t hold back anymore. I rushed in front of the two of them and gave William a hard slap.
They could insult me all they wanted, I could endure it, but I couldn’t accept them cursing my mother.
Being slapped, William was clearly stunned for a moment.
After realizing it was me, he suddenly resumed his usual tough attitude towards me, pushing me to the ground: “Mia Sullivan, why are you here? What’s wrong with you, how dare you hit me?”
William was cursing and about to lay hands on me, but how could his weak frame be a match for me? As soon as he got close, I slapped him again.
“I was wondering why you weren’t answering my calls, so you were accompanying your lover. Were you afraid I’d interrupt your little world, or worried I’d find out the money was gone and come to collect the debt?”
“Before, when I asked you to come to the hospital once, it was like asking for your life. You said there were germs everywhere, your immune system was low, and you were worried about getting sick. How come you’re not afraid of getting sick around her?”
“I didn’t know Jennifer had disinfectant properties! No wonder she’s useless at work, turns out she’s busy being a disinfectant spray here.”
“William Carter, there’s a limit to freeloading. I was blind to be willing to spend money on you before, but using my money to please your mistress, isn’t that a bit too cheap?”
“Isn’t it right for me to spend your money? I gave you the best years of my youth, what’s wrong with spending some of your money as compensation? You’re just a country bumpkin from the countryside, being able to date me for a few years is already more than your ancestors could have hoped for. You’re begrudging me spending a little money?”
The other party’s rebuttal was so well–argued, as if what he said was really reasonable.
Seeing William being hit, Jennifer also came over, trying to gain some advantage in momentum: “Mia Sullivan, haven’t you heard that the one who isn’t loved is the third wheel? I advise you to let go early. Brother William and I are a match made in heaven.”
