I gave Annie some dumplings that I made.
Then I took the rest home,
waiting for Matt to come.
I was waiting at home
and staring at a plate of dumplings.
But as time went by.
I still hadn’t seen Matt’s figure.
The sky outside had also darkened.
I looked at the empty street outside.
I remembered what Annie said just now.
She said there would be a grand fireworks show tonight, by the river.
I didn’t know if I could go see it when Matt came back.
I lay on the dining table, waiting silently.
