We all kept mute for a while, waiting to hear the knock again but we didn’t.
Klein stepped out and scanned everywhere, there was no one there.
He figured that it might be the wind.
“I think it’s only cool I properly introduce you two” I looked at Maria and she let out a

“your mate?” She extended a handshake to Klein, a weird smile playing on her lips. She looked awkwardly satisfied, maybe because I finally satisfied her curiosity.
Klein was a bit uncomfortable, “there’s no need to panic Klein, we can trust her.” I said and he took a deep breath.
Everything was slowly coming to place, with Maria by our side we could avert certain situations with her abilities. Just like today.
“I owe you one for today, Maria. Thank you.”
“That’s what friends are for. I’m glad I could help.” She smiled.
“You wanted to tell me something, Klein?”
“Yes, I noticed someone was listening to our conversation the other day at the pack house so I had to quickly cover up.” “Yes, I noticed. That was very smart of you. Thank you for always looking out for me”
He smiled, Klein was such a perfect gentle man, no wonder everyone loves him.
“It’s about the sandal I found in the late Alpha’s room, the one that belonged to Derek’s man.”
Since my rebirth, it’s been from one drama to another, my goodness! When is this ever going to end
My eyes widened, my face masked with a mix of curiosity and suspicion.
“Yes, I remember. What about it?”
“I couldn’t find it where I stashed it in my room. I’ve looked everywhere for it, but still, there was no trace of it
“This is serious, this was definitely Jared’s ways of covering his tracks again.”
The sudden disappearance of the sandal was another mystery yet to unfold. Derek had just informed me some days ago that he would come to the pack to see the sandal, then carry on with his investigations from there, and now the sandal was missing?
What do we tell him when he arrives? If we can’t find proof of our accusations then it would be terrible for my pack for klein mest especially
If things get out of hand, it could even lead to war between the two packs

If Derek decides to show some mercy, then he would request for anything he wants from us, our land, animals or even our young girls as his mistresses and we won’t be able to oppose him.
“This is not good, Klein. How did you lose such an important item!” I spat on his face, frustration rippled in my face.
“I kept it safe. Silverstone I’m very sure I did. I also found something else.” He looked at me, his eyes burning with anger.
“A day before the sandal went missing. I ran into a lady on my way home from training. She had a big bag with her and she looked at me nervously as she walked by me. We collided and the bag fell down, letting out that particularly sandal but I ignored it. I thought that it was hers.”
“Can you recognize this lady if you see her again?” Maria asked, her voice calm.
“Yes, I think I’ve seen her in the pack.”
“Then there’s no need to waste time, we should go to the pack immediately.”
I moved towards the door but Maria stopped me, her words clear and concise.
“You said the lady was in a hurry and chances are that she had left from your room, right?”
“Yes.” Klein responded, his voice tense.
“Let’s go to your room. I’ll figure out who it was once we get there.”
Maria was such a big hand. How did I not think of telling her all these while.
Breath left my body slowly, taking with it the thought of what lies ahead if we didn’t resolve the issue before Derek’s arrival.
My shoulders dropped, tension melting away like the morning frost..
I let out a deep breath, feeling relieved. We entered the car and drove off to Klein’s house.
As we pulled over, we spotted movement in the window, Crouching behind my car, we watched as shadows moved through
his bedroom.
My wolf senses were high, even from a distance I could see their faces. It was the same men that Jared came with earlier. Their faces were strange, I knew my pack members but there was something really strange about these men.
Klein stood up from our hideout, walking to them but Maria immediately pulled him back.
“That’ll be too dangerous Klein, let’s wait till they leave the premises. They may be heavily armed.”
Klein nodded, it wasn’t long until the men left. We weren’t sure why they came but we were certainly sure that Jared sent
them
Everyone knows that Jared is never up to any good.
“You need to be extremely careful Klein, this was the exact reason that I didn’t want to get you involved in all this in the first place. I turned to Maria
“This was the reason I didn’t want anyone to be involved in this. I don’t want you two to get hurt because of me.”
“And you think we can stand watching you get hurt while we did nothing to help you? You must be really sick.”
Maria is definitely the kindest lady that I had ever met. Even though she could be a pin in the ass at times, she was definitely

caring. She was a good friend.
Immediately they left and we went inside, Klein checked around to see if they had taken any other thing while Maria was all over the house, sniffing around it.
Her face was immediately pale, I was surprised, very surprised. I have never seen her this way before, I knew of her powers but I’ve not seen it possess her so mightily like this before. Her hands were trembling, suddenly she fell down, her head became stiff.
Then a wave of release washed over her, she turned to me, her eyes burning like fire.
“I can smell a familiar scent”
